Job Description

Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a strategic, results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a leading service provider with a national footprint on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. As CFO, you will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, driving operational efficiency, and supporting continued growth in a dynamic, service-driven and manufacturing industry.

The ideal candidate will bring deep financial leadership experience, a strong background in operational finance, and a passion for aligning financial performance with business strategy. Prior experience in service, construction, or field operations-based industries is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee cash flow, cash management, working capital, and company audits for the short- and long-term financial stability of the Company and to ensure sufficient operating and cash reserves. Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy.
  • Support the company-wide financial planning and analysis efforts. Prepare and oversee project profitability analysis.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports - accurate and timely monthly closing and reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, contracts in progress schedule, completed contract schedule, and cash flow statement with actual, budget and forecasts.
  • Ensure legal compliance on all financial functions.
  • Manage relationships with banks - manage and establish the banking relationships for cash management, lending, and other financial services.
  • Develop investment strategies to further the goals of the Company, including, but not limited to, capital budgeting, merger and acquisition evaluation, market analysis, and growth strategies.
  • Ongoing review and implementation of the accounting practices of the Company to ensure compliance with all GAAP and Treasury guidelines.
  • Develop and report measurable monthly, quarterly and annual KPI targets across all departments.
  • Develop and implement budgeting initiatives to drive company-wide financial improvements.
  • Oversee and collaborate with external tax accountants to ensure compliance.
  • Regulatory compliance - oversee all compliance for plans.
  • Ensure the company secures proper insurance and bonding to protect all insureds and to meet contractual obligations.
  • Obtain and negotiate adequate insurance coverage to protect the company from unforeseen events, such as accidents or property damage.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls across all accounting levels.

In addition to all accounting, payroll & contract staff, oversee departments of:

  • Risk Management - maintain effective internal controls to limit risk and liability. Including ongoing review with Human Resources and Safety Compliance. Analyze contracts to identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate financial risks.
  • Technology - ongoing review of the software systems and implementation of new systems. Drive technology strategies companywide, staying current with trends and opportunities to streamline processes, sharing resources, and limit multiple platforms.
  • Legal - work with in-house counsel on contracts, collections, and legal issues that may arise.
  • Purchasing - work with purchasing to develop relationships with vendors and providers while negotiating terms and pricing.
  • Human Resources - oversee talent and performance management, employee relations, labor laws, retention, training, and compliance with regulations.
  • Facility Security Officer (FSO) - provide standard operating procedures and services to classified government customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting-related fields
  • CPA or MBA strongly preferred
  • 7 - 10 years' of finance experience, at least 3-5 in leadership role
  • Financial leadership in service industry experience preferred
