Job Description

Naples Kitchen & Bath is looking for an experienced Director of Design to lead our design department. Our company specializes in luxury custom home remodeling projects. Our ideal candidate knows the intricacies of kitchen & bath design projects, including the details of custom cabinetry and flooring installation. Having product knowledge of various materials, tile, appliances, lighting fixtures, and finishes is also preferable.

As our Director of Design, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and evaluating a team of designers, ensuring design deliverables meet expectations.
  • Overseeing all construction-related activities, including collaborating with project managers and approving design changes.
  • Conducting client consultations and supporting sales processes.
  • Presenting designs to clients and develop building plans within cost parameters.
  • Executing preliminary and final budgets for remodeling projects.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on budget and comply with NKB standards.
  • Create and manage project timelines and schedules.
  • Redline drawings and plans for accuracy.
  • Implement and maintain company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Develop a unified file structure and improve company processes.
  • Develop and execute sourcing plans aligned with budget and business goals.
  • Prepare, review, and process shop and as-built drawings.
  • Assist with final deliverables and seek post-project feedback.
  • Create training materials and document the design process.
  • Stay updated on design trends, products, and market research.
  • Ensure high-quality, timely structural drawings that meet project needs.
  • Manage client expectations and reduce financial risk during construction.
  • Ensure designs are delivered on time to appropriate team members.
  • Stay current with changing building codes and permitting regulations.
  • Attend, host, or coordinate department meetings.
  • Delegate and review completed work, ensuring quality and adherence to directives.
  • Provide critical feedback and support team members throughout projects.
  • Review final drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and project delivery policies.
  • Apply knowledge of design, construction, zoning, and building materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and other departments to achieve design goals.
  • Develop and present innovative design ideas in an understandable format.
  • Communicate critical issues to the Vice President.

You bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree related to industry
  • 8+ years of experience as a designer
  • 5+ years of experience managing and motivating a design team
  • An outstanding portfolio with a wide range of multi-platform designs
  • Experience with Construction/Project Management
  • Experience using industry-standard design tools (e.g. 20/20, SketchUp, CoConstruct, BuilderTrend, AutoCad)
  • Knowledge and expertise of privately-held business operations
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • A deep technical knowledge of the complete design process from brainstorming to end product
  • A creative drive and a keen eye for innovative ideas and trends
  • The patience and determination to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Flexibility and dependability to work in multifaceted working environments
  • The ability to produce quality projects consistently
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
