Job Description

Our client, Foothills Utilities, is one of the fastest-growing water and wastewater utilities in the U.S. Due to company growth, they require a General Manager to oversee their Yuma Arizona Facilities.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Leading and assuming overall responsibility for all operational functions within the facility management, finance, and operations.
  • Being responsible for profit & loss performance of the Yuma facilities, including managing key financial targets (Net Income, EBITDA, /and capital expenditures).
  • Developing and executing annual budgets, including revenues, O&M expenses, and capital expenditures
  • Developing operations strategies, and directing and managing the water quality, field operations, production, and maintenance for water and wastewater operations.
  • Implementing best-operating practices to promote continuous improvement, innovation, and excellent customer service.
  • Ensuring that operational integrity is maintained, including regulatory compliance in all facilities.
  • Coordinating closely with the company’s supporting functional areas, including finance, accounting, regulatory, HR, business development, and others.
  • Identifying and developing the strategy and priorities for capital investment programs and driving the effective implementation of such programs.
  • Supporting the development and execution of long-term regulatory strategies, including rate cases, rate consolidation, and other policy-related regulatory issues.
  • Overseeing and managing all employee training, marketing, communications, contingency planning, and related business functions.
  • Establishing a strong employee and customer safety culture, through the implementation of safety training, programs, and protocols.
  • Building shared commitment to improving business performance and developing both individual and team capabilities
  • Driving performance by linking business units' objectives to company goals and values.
  • Communicating a shared vision, energizing and empowering staff, and championing diversity.
  • Assisting in due diligence and operational analysis, and ensuring effective integration and performance of acquisitions and contract operations.
  • Establishing relationships with and serving as operational contact for political and civic leaders and other key external stakeholders.
  • Supporting and assisting the company President in maintaining and enhancing such relationships in the region and nationally.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading, motivating, and empowering employees to affect positive change and improve business performance.
  • At least 10 years of experience successfully managing water and wastewater systems in multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing and meeting or exceeding organizational financial, operational, and safety performance targets.
  • Extensive knowledge of the regulated water and wastewater utility business and its operations, including relevant water and wastewater certifications (class IV)
  • Knowledge of the applicable regulations, requirements, and trends impacting the water and wastewater business, both regulated and nonregulated.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient skills using standard office software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Compensation for this position is $140 - $170K, or commensurate with experience, plus commissions and full benefits.
