Job Description

This is a contract-to-hire role for a Graphic Designer / Production Artist at Hometown Hero in Austin, TX.

Key Job Activities:

  • Manage the design and production, from start to finish, for projects including packaging, supplemental graphics and illustrations for the product design team, point-of-sale retail signage, and business presentations.
  • Accountable for proofing, managing revisions, and tracking approvals for projects.
  • Manage multiple projects, be held accountable to timelines established by the team, and demonstrate flexibility when priorities change.
  • Work quickly and efficiently, and always strive to find a better way to perform (keyboard shortcuts, general workflows, etc.)

Scope of Work: The position interacts routinely with company management, office personnel, and

external technical resources. Limited “off-hour” communications may be required.Education and Experience

  • At least 4 years of graphic design experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design (or similar).
  • Strong typography skills, excellent knowledge of color and composition.
  • Must have a strong understanding of space and size relationships for images.
  • Strong print production skills with understanding of profiles, decoration layers, bleeds, paper types, offset vs. digital, etc.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of MS Office and the Adobe Creative Suite using Apple computers and related programs, including advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (cloning, color adjustment, optimizing for various web outputs, etc.).
  • Experience working with packaging is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention to detail and project management skills required.
  • Agency or consumer product goods experience preferred.
  • An up-to-date Portfolio demonstrating your talent is a must!
