Job Description

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Customs Brokerage Department Manager to lead and oversee U.S. customs clearance operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting our customers' import and export needs. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing customs processes, fostering client relationships, and optimizing operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end import and export customs operations, working closely with the forwarding department to ensure seamless logistics.
  • Ensure full compliance with U.S. customs regulations, including tariff classifications, import/export restrictions, and documentation requirements. Review and approve customs entries for accuracy, duty calculations, and regulatory adherence.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of customer needs, providing timely responses to inquiries and resolving issues related to Importer Security Filing (ISF) and customs entries.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with U.S. Customs and other regulatory agencies, addressing inquiries and resolving compliance issues efficiently.
  • Stay current with evolving customs regulations, international trade requirements, and trade agreements to maintain full compliance and operational integrity.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by addressing logistics needs and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Manage departmental budget, allocate resources effectively, and identify cost-saving opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement and uphold supply chain security measures, including compliance with Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) requirements.
  • Maintain and refine operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive process optimization.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development (Sales) team to support new and existing customer relationships, promoting the company’s customs brokerage services.
  • Provide comprehensive training and mentorship to department staff, fostering professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred; or a minimum of 10 years of customs brokerage experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of management experience in customs operations, with deep expertise in various customs clearance services.
  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License required ; candidates who have passed the exam and have applied for the license will also be considered.
