Role Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Medical Courier to join our healthcare logistics team in Tampa, Florida. This position involves the time-sensitive transportation of medical items such as blood samples, lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, interoffice mail, and medical supplies between clinics, hospitals, laboratories, and other healthcare facilities. This is a full-time on-site role for a Medical Courier, based in Tampa, FL. The Medical Courier will be responsible for the secure and timely transportation of medical items and passengers to healthcare facilities, ensuring the highest standard of safety and comfort. Day-to-day tasks include loading and unloading items, verifying transport details, and maintaining communication with dispatchers. The role requires strict adherence to scheduling, routes, and compliance with healthcare transport regulations. Providing excellent customer service to passengers and maintaining vehicle cleanliness are critical aspects of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Safely pick up and deliver medical materials, including blood samples, pharmaceuticals, and confidential mail.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and OSHA compliance regulations regarding patient information and biohazard handling.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs and obtain proper documentation upon delivery and receipt.
  • Operate a personal or company vehicle safely and responsibly.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules while adjusting to delays or unexpected changes as needed.
  • Uphold specimen integrity by using temperature-controlled containers and following chain-of-custody protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, facility staff, and dispatch team.
  • Perform light to moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and ensure proper handling of fragile and biohazardous materials.

Qualifications

  • Customer Service skills and ability to assist passengers professionally
  • Training in safety protocols and proper handling of medical items
  • Experience in healthcare logistics, courier service, or delivery service preferred
  • Attention to detail and adherence to scheduled routes and timeframes
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Previous experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Familiarity with the geography of Tampa and route optimization tools is a plus.
  • Medical Courier Certification or willingness to obtain (preferred: OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens, HIPAA Awareness, DOT Hazardous Materials training).
