Job Description

This role will be responsible for developing safe, innovative package designs that meet internal and external customer needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the packaging field as a package development engineer

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Packaging Science, or Engineering equivalent

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Industrial and automotive markets is a plus.
  • Must have excellent understanding of package development process and engineering principles.
  • Familiar with various performance requirements such as cap torque, carton burst weight, heat seals and labelling options.
  • Knowledge of UN Rated Packaging.
  • Knowledge of aerosol engineering a bonus.
  • Knowledge of industrial chemistry a bonus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage assigned Package/Application development projects.
  • Provide packaging alternatives and develop, engineer and test packaging components key to meeting CRC Industries customer requirements.
  • Execute new innovate package designs and perform part and mechanism component qualification.
  • Assure package design for function, while adding value through design aesthetics
  • Conduct laboratory and performance tests as necessary.
  • Clearly communicate with CRC Industries project leads, providing status reports relating to development projects.
  • Work with all members of CRC as needed to support QC, Technical Services and other Product Development projects.
  • Work with suppliers from engineering prints, constructing prototypes through to final production integration.
  • Work to maintain a knowledge base of information relevant to our growing business.
  • Collaborate with key personnel to analyze and clarify requirements
  • Develop and maintain presentations relevant to Automotive and Industrial CRC product lines.
  • Stay current on industry trends, engineering and application developments.
  • Participate in industry associations as required.
  • Follow best safe practices, standards and work to ensure a safe and accident free workplace.
  • Work in partnership with Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Production departments to optimize product sales potential.
  • Develop key relationships with suppliers to support development function.
  • Work effectively with internal customers to provide timely functional specifications.
