Job Description :

The Project Manager (PM) of dry utilities is responsible for coordinating all scopes of work associated with a project by planning, executing, and providing. The Project Manager of dry utilities reports directly to Manager and Director of Dry Utilities. 

Responsibilities – Project Management:

· Vet out potential projects by reviewing plans, site via Google Earth, and discussing project with client.

· Drafting proposals by identifying scope of work, pricing of services and delivering to client for review.

· Accomplishes project objectives by defining project purpose and scope; establishing standards and protocols; allocating of resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and consultants; evaluating assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems, all done with doing the following:

o Performs site visits (i.e., site assessment – photos, note conditions and existing utility structures, etc.)

o Acts as a liaison between development and the utilities

o Performs and drafts dry utility reports - will serve letters, availability of facilities, conflict check for all utilities and creating exhibits and / or conflict reports

o Assists in preparing of cost estimates by implementing unit pricing, calculation of utility fees (including refundable and non-refundable and reimbursable amounts) and designing utility layouts.

· Understanding and memorializing emerging dry utility construction practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities (i.e., SCE Seminars, LADWP Workshops, etc.); reading professional publications.

· Understands the construction process (i.e., home building, road work, conduit/pad installation, etc.)

· Understands the various permits required for construction.

· Coordinates the undergrounding of facilities with the utility companies and contractor.

· Provides spatial requirements to development team (pads layout and clearance, gas meter, etc.)

· Determines conflicts between dry utilities and existing/proposed improvements.

· Prepares CAD files per utility standards.

· Understands how to extract specific information from various developmental plans (electrical, plumbing, etc.)

· Deciphers and processes utility easements and/or abandonment of easements.

· Meets projects budgets by monitoring project expenditures (i.e., team hours and sub-consultant costs), identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.

· Delegates tasks and assignments to APM staff.

· Trains new and existing staff.

· Review projects with APM staff to ensure overall project success by providing direction and feedback.

· Meets operational standards by contributing dry utility information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems.

· Offers suggestions on innovation, staff training improvements, QAQC measures and any areas to promote division success.

· Exploring new coordination opportunities: identifying and memorializing processes, timelines, etc. to further the types of services offered to clients.

· Maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations (i.e., Building Industry Association).

· Assists the Accounting team with invoicing.

· Update accounting sheet to reflect billing over the duration of the project.

· Compiles submittal items for each utility depending on the scope of work involved.

· Offers suggestions on innovation, staff training improvements, OAQC measured and any areas to promote division success.

· Attend industry events/ networking.

Qualifications & Requirements:

· 3+ years of relevant work experience

· Preferred higher education (4-year degree)

· Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word

· Organized and innovative thinker

· Bluebeam/ CAD experience

· Quick learner capable of on-the-job training
