What you will be doing:

The Safety and Compliance Specialist supports the manufacturing facility by ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies. This role works closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to promote a strong safety culture, identify and reduce workplace hazards, and drive continuous improvement in compliance and safety performance.

  • Monitor plant operations to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local regulations, and internal safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, machine guarding inspections, and hazard assessments across manufacturing lines.
  • Lead incident investigations, document findings, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for plant employees, including forklift safety, lockout/tagout, PPE, and emergency response.
  • Maintain and update all required safety documentation, including SDS records, training logs, and inspection reports.
  • Serve as the primary contact during regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Support and maintain ISO 45001 or other relevant safety management systems (if applicable).
  • Assist with the implementation of ergonomics, injury prevention, and environmental waste handling programs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to incorporate safety into new equipment and process changes.
  • Monitor and report on key safety metrics (e.g., incident rates, near misses, training completion) and provide regular updates to management.

What we require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred); equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of safety and compliance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • 2-4 years of strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance (air, water, waste), and injury prevention strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with EHS software is a plus.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification required; CSP, CHMM, or other safety certifications preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus in diverse manufacturing environments.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, climb, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May involve exposure to heat, noise, dust, chemicals, and moving machinery.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
