Job Description

NUFDI Summer Fellowship

NUFDI Summer Fellows will be invited to join the organization for the summer for an exciting introduction to advocacy and policy work in Washington, DC. They will be given the opportunity to work directly with the NUFDI staff on our policy, advocacy, media, and human rights campaigns.

In addition to their responsibilities in the role, NUFDI Summer Fellows will have the opportunity to partake in a summer lunch speaker series. These intimate sessions will allow fellows to connect with and learn directly from leaders from Washington's most esteemed think tanks and other institutions.

Joining NUFDI as a Summer Fellow will be a unique opportunity to join a tight-knit, growing organization and take on responsibilities and challenges far beyond a standard summer internship. Fellows will also have the opportunity to develop relationships across the Washington policy and advocacy community.

  • Summarizing Congressional and other government actions taken concerning Iran and human rights
  • Draft articles, updates, and communications for NUFDI’s digital communication strategy
  • Summarize and analyze media coverage of Iran in the American press and provide reports and fact-checking when necessary
  • Aid in event planning, day-to-day programming, and some administrative tasks
  • Develop social media content for NUFDI.

NUFDI Summer Fellows should meet the following qualifications:

  • Current university student (undergraduate or graduate)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proven interest in human rights, Iran, international relations, politics, and media
  • Self-motivated and with superior attention to detail

Further qualifications:

  • Spoken and written Persian (Farsi) preferred but not required
  • Experience working on Iranian/Iranian-American issues

Details

  • The Summer Fellowship will run from June to August and will be based in Washington, D.C.
  • Summer fellows will be offered a stipend to help cover summer expenses.

How to Apply

  • Send a resume and cover letter to [email protected] with "Summer Fellow Application" in the subject line by April 30, 2025 .
