Under the direction of the Senior Oil and Gas Engineer, the Engineering Geologist will function as a Technical Change Management Engineering Geologist for the Well Statewide Tracking and Reporting (WellSTAR) unit in the Division's Headquarters Office. The incumbent will perform complex engineering work, including the technical evaluation of oil and gas projects, and well operations to determine possible hazards to life, health, property, and natural resources; conduct complex studies of operations and reservoirs; analyze data submitted by staff and operators regarding the oil and gas production and injection, drilling, operation, maintenance, and abandonment of oil and gas wells and decommissioning of oil and gas production infrastructure. This position requires a moderate degree of skill in hydrocarbon technology.

Working Conditions

This position is located in Sacramento and may be eligible for hybrid telework in accordance with the Department of Conservation’s Telework Policy and procedures.
