Key Responsibilities:
- Fit Analysis: Conduct fit sessions with live models or dress forms, analyzing garment fit, balance, and construction. Document and communicate fit issues and recommendations for improvements.
- Garment Evaluation: Review samples from initial proto stages through to pre-production. Assess the overall quality, construction, and adherence to design specifications.
- Measurement Specifications: Develop and maintain detailed measurement specifications and grading rules for each size. Ensure consistency across all products.
- Pattern Adjustments: Work with pattern makers to adjust patterns based on fit analysis. Ensure patterns are accurate and meet fit and design requirements.
- Communication: Provide clear, concise feedback to pattern maker, internal team and manufacturers regarding fit corrections, construction changes, and quality improvements.
- Quality Control: If required fit technician might be asked to participate in quality control processes to ensure that final production garments meet the required fit and quality standards.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical fit documentation, including fit comments, measurement charts, and construction details.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with pattern maker, fit models, product developers, and production teams to ensure fit and quality expectations are met throughout the development process.
- Trend Analysis: Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in fit technology. Apply this knowledge to continuously improve fit processes and standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Science, Apparel Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fit technician, technical designer, or similar role in the garment industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in pattern making and garment construction. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., Gerber) is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and address fit and construction issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate fit and make necessary adjustments.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines.
