Your Role:

As a Teacher Aide, you'll play a vital role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and educational environment where children can thrive. You'll assist in supervising and managing a classroom, ensuring each child grows at their own pace and develops socially, physically, emotionally, and cognitively.

Who You’ll Work With:

You'll report to the Classroom Head Teacher or Teacher and work closely with a team of dedicated professionals, while also taking initiative and managing your responsibilities independently.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Attentive and responsive to children's needs, able to handle emergencies and conflicts in various settings.
  • Physically capable of lifting 30 pounds and moving quickly to ensure child safety.
  • Able to engage with children at their level, including sitting on the floor and maintaining eye contact.
  • In good health, with a physician's statement and proof of being free of tuberculosis.
  • New York State Registry and Criminal History Fingerprint clearance.
  • At least 18 years of age.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Create a Safe and Fun Environment: Adhere to all Center policies and NY State regulations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
  • Engage and Educate: Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that foster development in line with NAEYC philosophy.
  • Be a Positive Role Model: Interact with children in a respectful and encouraging manner, fostering a positive classroom atmosphere.
  • Build Relationships: Develop strong connections with parents and communicate regularly to support each child’s growth.
  • Stay Organized: Maintain classroom records, assist with housekeeping, and support overall Center operations.
  • Grow Professionally: Complete 15 hours of early childhood training within the first 6 months and annually, while maintaining an up-to-date Aspire account with QualitystarsNY.

What You Bring:

  • Knowledge of NYS child care regulations and NAEYC guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with children, co-workers, and parents.
  • Creativity, patience, and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and practice to meet the needs of the program.
  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) and a commitment to fostering children’s development.
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience working with children.
