This job isn’t for everyone.
It’s not for people who want to coast. Or hide behind layers of process. Or spend their
days endlessly waiting for approvals from people who don’t know what they’re
approving.
This is for someone who wants to get stuck in. Someone who wants to move fast, grow
fast, and be trusted with real responsibility. Someone who doesn’t want their ambition
managed by someone else’s timeline.
You’ll be joining our Client’s team in Austin, a geotechnical consultancy that’s scaled
from 30 to over 140+ people in just a few years. They’ve done it by doing good work, being
good people to work with, and not being afraid to let their engineers take the lead.
There’s no ceiling here. You can run as fast as you like. You’ll get huge support, but you’ll
also be pushed, just enough, to become the best version of yourself. This isn’t a
company that hires smart people and then slows them down.
The work is mostly solar, plus some wind, battery storage, and commercial. Projects
move quickly. You won’t be waiting 12 months to see if something you designed actually
got built. You’ll be involved from field to finish, in a team that knows how to get things
done without the drama.
You’ll be based in Austin, but this isn’t a five-days-a-week, chained-to-your-desk sort of
job. You’ll usually be in the office three days a week, unless you’re on site or travelling.
The rest is flexible. They care more about what gets done than where you’re sat when
you do it.
One of the senior geotechnical SMEs at a major renewables company told me:
“If I ever went back to consulting, this would be the place. They’re smart, easy to work
with, no ego, and they look after their people. Properly.”
That kind of feedback doesn’t come around often.
You’ll need a PE license (or be on track), around 5+ years of geotech consulting
experience, and the ability to run investigations, mentor juniors, and make decisions
without asking for permission every ten minutes. Experience with LPILE, PLAXIS, gINT
etc. is useful, but not make-or-break. They’re hiring you for how you think, not just what
software you’ve used.
The salary? Around $140k is the guideline, but it depends entirely on your experience,
qualifications, and overall profile. There’s a bonus scheme, 100% employer-paid health,
dental and vision, unlimited PTO, relocation help, a company card, and proper
investment in your development.
You’ll be working with people who back you. Who want you to grow. And who actually
mean it when they say you’ll be supported.
