JOB TITLE: SQL Server Database Administrator

LOCATION: Cape Coral, FL (HYBRID)

OPPORTUNITY: Six months contract to full time hire

SUMMARY

The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) ensures the performance, security, and integrity of SQL Server databases across 24x7 Production, Test, and Development environments. This role manages daily database operations and multiple assignments, working closely with IT staff to meet deadlines through effective planning and execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, migrate, back up, restore, recover, troubleshoot, and tune SQL Server databases in a 24x7 environment
• Monitor and optimize performance through indexing and query tuning; manage upgrades and database changes
• Manage database security, including user roles and permissions
• Ensure availability and integrity of databases
• Administer and monitor Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Write complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data
• Design, develop, and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Optimize report performance and troubleshoot issues
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity in reports
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including support for internal teams and complex tasks
• Gather report requirements and deliver reports on time
• Train and support end-users on reporting tools and data interpretation
• Collaborate with teams to improve database performance, stability, and security
• Maintain documentation for database standards, reporting processes, and troubleshooting tools
• Stay current on SQL Server reporting and data best practices
• Perform DBA responsibilities independently
• Complete other assigned duties

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of relevant experience in SQL Server database administration
• Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
• Strong skills in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
• Experience with SSRS and SSIS
• Experience in performance tuning and optimization
• Background in reporting and analytics
• Familiarity with data visualization tools
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS; Azure acceptable) and cloud security
• Experience in HIPAA-compliant environments
• Knowledge of database design, transaction processing, referential integrity, and monitoring
• Understanding of backup, recovery, and security practices
• Basic knowledge of OS-level system administration
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Clear communication and collaboration abilities
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and in a team

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

• Microsoft certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience
• Experience with data warehousing and BI development
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other databases
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM, MySQL, Numina RDS, ADSI, Windows Server (2016/2012/2008R2), and .NET
• Knowledge of additional cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud)
• Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python)
• Exposure to AI tools for data insights
• Experience integrating machine learning models with databases
• Proficiency with Power BI or similar reporting platforms
