Job Description

Purpose and Scope:

The Safety Manager is responsible for the planning, establishment and oversight of safety policies and protocols to ensure a safe work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and implements workplace health and safety plan sand procedures.
  • Performs risk assessment by evaluating health and safety practices.
  • Reduces risk by communicating, instructing, or directing activities of others, or by relaying to supervisor.
  • Participates in the cost effectiveness of the company by ensuring safety measures are implemented, thereby reducing workplace- related claims.
  • Conducts accident prevention training, along withhealth and safety training.
  • Investigates accidents and incidents, identifying and taking preventive measures against their causes.
  • Manage accident report and investigation, conduct or coordinate retraining, and suggest disciplinary action of overall safety record warrants.
  • Conduct training and education classes for drivers, warehouse, and other employees.
  • Implement corrective action to minimize causes of loss.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, DOT, OSHA, and RCRA
  • Facility audits
  • Travel will be significant especially in the beginning.
  • Focus on warehouse, while learning moreof the DOT, and risk management.
  • Assist in creation of new and fresh training material.
  • All other duties as required.

Job Competency / Qualifications

Education/ Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management or related field.

  • Computer proficiency with MS Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations.

  • Certification in risk management and/or health and safety management, desirable.
